A: No, there are no hidden costs. Its just the buy now price, the shipping cost that we quote you and then the customs clearance costs. You need to contact your local customs broker and ask for a quote.

Q: How much is it to register my scooter?
A: For vehicle registration info please contact the motor vehicle registry office in your country. Your local yellow pages will give you the phone number.

Q: I live in the UK. Can you please tell me the costs, etc?
This info is from a UK customer to a prospective UK customer who is unfamiliar with UK regulations, provided Jan 2010:
Firstly let me reassure you that this guy is true to his word and the scooters are first class I have attached some photo's of mine when it arrived it started second kick and has never failed to start second kick in the last 15 months since I got it.when it arrives you will have around £250 vat/duty to pay, you then have to get it MOTed which costs £25 mine went straight though and the guy at the garage commented on how good the restoration was. Then you need to get it registered you get the forms from the post office to register an imported vehicle you then have to take the form & MOT certificate to the nearest DVLA office and hand them in by hand they will want some photo,s of the scoot from front/rear & both sides they then give you an age related registration number to the year of manufacture this costs £55 but the road tax is free because of the age.
You can get the scooter age verified and a certificate if you send £15 and photo,s to the veteran vespa club www.veteranvespaclub.co.uk you can also check yourself on that website if you get the engine and chassis number from sapoty.
They cost around £100 to insure with FOOTMAN JAMES Classic bike insurance they also have a website
It really is very easy to do all the above do not have any doubts you will end up with a first class vespa I have had lots of offers for mine up to £3500 but will not sell they do really turn peoples heads.
And later he says:
Yes when you get the documents from sapoty all you can do is fill the application form from the post office but the vespa will not be far behind the paper work.
When the scooter is on its way over sea you will get a phone call/email from the broker in Southampton who is dealing with the shipping it is best to let them do every thing it is much easier they will sort out your delivery/VAT & customs duty by invoice.
MOT is the motor vehicle test which every vehicle in the Uk needs to test for road worthiness before you can tax/ insure (yearly)
It is no problem getting age related plates with the new engine as long as either the chassis or engine are original
You do not even need a licence to register the vespa only to ride it.

Q: Is it difficult to register my scooter in the USA, UK, or my country?
A: It is very easy to register the scooters in all countries. We sell to the USA and UK on a regular basis and no one has had a problem with getting the scooter registered. In Australia you just get it weighed, get a blue slip inspection (take the documents), and register it - easy!

Q: Do the scooters comply with emission laws in the USA?
A: Yes, the scooters are pre 1970.

Q: Are there special requirements for Australian buyers?

Q: I'm dropping in to Vietnam next week can I come and see your shop?
A: Our workshop is not available to the general public. The mechanics are very busy and do not want to be distracted by visitors under any circumstances.

Q:What can you tell me about the quality of your scooters?
A:
The workshops that provide poorly restored scooters come and go leaving a trail of unhappy customers in their wake. I once had a bad experience like that with a supplier called Lee Sang. On the other hand, some Western mechanics play on people's fears about scooters restored in Asia. They create work for themselves by replacing parts that do not need replacing.

We have been in this business since January 2005 and have a workshop with staff having high integrity and skill. They know that quality restorations grow our customer base and are committed to that. If a fault occurs in one of our scooters we provide detailed customer lifetime support and air freight any replacement parts required (free in the first 3 months). My workshop takes pains to ensure that engine parts showing any significant wear are replaced during reassembly. All our scooters are road tested before shipping. See the testimonials page for feedback from our customers.

Q: Can I arrange my own shipping from Vietnam?
A: No, we arrange shipping to your nearest port.

Q: Is my scooter going to be legal with documents?
A: All our scooters come with full legal documentation for import, customs clearance and vehicle registration purposes. Click here for a list of documents. In a very few countries additional documentation is required.

Q: Are any of the scooters stolen property?
A: No we do not deal in stolen goods. All our scooters undergo a police check and are issued with a police clearance certificate.

Q: How big is the crate and are they packed well?
A: Yes they are packed carefully in a timber frame box lined with plywood. Click here for more info.

Q: Do I need shipping insurance?
A: 95% of our scooters are shipped without insurance, we have never had cause for a claim yet. It is up to you if you want to take the extra precaution. Insurance is an extra that you can select when you order..

Q: My city is not on the shipping prices page, how much is shipping to XYZ?
A: Contact us and we will find out for you click here.

Q: Are the photos of the scooters the actual scooter I am buying?
A: The photos are of scooters we have built and sold in the past UNLESS we stipulate that the scooter is available for IMMEDIATE SHIPPING. If this is stated on our web site or ebay auction then the scooter is built and ready for shipping and you will get the exact scooter you see in the photo. Optional extras on the scooter must be added to your order if you want them.

Q: Do you have any scooters ready to ship?
A: This is less likely during the northern summer. If you are a serious buyer and not fussy about the colour and model then see here for photos.

Q: How long does it take for delivery?
A: If your order is a custom order the restoration takes approx 3 to 4 weeks. The sea journey is 2 to 5 weeks depending on your location. If you have ordered a scooter that is 'READY TO SHIP' then allow 1 week for preparation to ship.

Q: Can I buy wholesale?
A: Yes but only if you are buying four or more scooters. Contact us.

Q: I want to buy wholesale for you. I'm going to order 3 - 5 but I want to order one first to check it out. Then I'm going to order heaps.
A: You can buy one at retail first, but it must be at our retail price. We will then give you a credit for the retail markup on your first scooter, when you make a wholesale order of four or more scooters

Q: When I get my scooter I will show it to my friends and if they are happy we will order several more.
A: Please don't feel you have to tell me this to make sure we do a good job on your scooter. We do the very best work we can on all our scooters and serve all our customers to the best of our ability. We do not play favorites: everyone is treated fairly and well.

Q: Will you accept a lower price?
A: No. Not for the first scooter you buy and not if you buy from our eBay listings.

Q: Can I pay by credit card or PayPal?
A: The way to pay us with credit card is as follows... go to your bank and ask them to transfer the amount from your credit card to your bank account (cash advance) then do the bank transfer from your bank account to our bank. If we accept PayPal it is with a 6% surcharge to cover PayPal fees. It is much cheaper for you to do a bank transfer, so there is no point in you or us accepting PayPal.

Q: How do I know you wont steal my money after I pay you?
A: In business since 2005, we are the largest scooter restorer and supplier on the internet with excellent references, see our testimonials. Our business is restoring and selling quality scooters not stealing money.

Q: How are the models different?
A: See our page on models for pics and definition.
